Take a Breather this Autumn in Waterbury!

As the heat wears off and the trees grow vibrant, Waterbury offers a multitude of destinations to enjoy the change in seasons. From exploring backroads or hiking through the ever-changing hillsides to strolling through our historic downtown stopping in shops and grabbing bites to eat, Waterbury is an ideal place for a quite retreat before the first snowfall graces us with its presence.

For the Outdoor Lover:

Grab your hiking boots, bike, fishing rod, or boat and head off in any direction. Our many trail systems with for various skill levels and many streams, waterfalls, and bodies of water to explore, will make deciding where to go and what to do first the hardest part of your day. Plus, if you think our views look colorful from in town, wait until you take in the views from the top of Mt Mansfield, Spruce Peak, or Camel's Hump (to name just a few).

Looking for a rush? The Waterbury Area Trail Alliance worked tirelessly over the summer on the trails of Perry Hill in the Putnam State Forest. Grab your bike and try it out. Not into Mountain Biking? Try out the zipline in Stowe. It will surely be a ride you remember

For the Hungry and Thirsty:

Downtown is loaded with spots for a bite and a pint or to relax with a glass. The calm ambiance and numerous wine choices at Cork make it an ideal location to wine down for the evening or take an afternoon break. For brews and food try any one of the brewpubs in town, or stop by the Craft Beer Cellar and choose from their amazing selection of craft beer and cider to take home. If you're searching for a fine dining experience, try the ever-evolving menu at Hen of the Wood or farm to farmhouse table experience of Michaels on the Hill.

For the Shopper:

While wandering around our downtown, you'll find wonderful shops full of gifts, books, clothing, antiques, furniture and home decor.

For the Kids and Kids at Heart:

As home to Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, it would be a disservice to the kids out there to refrain from mentioning the factory tour solely based on the cooling temperature. Here we believe any time of year is a great time for ice cream. So indulge in the treat and if you get too cold, drive a bit further down the road and get a warm cider donut and cider from Cold Hollow Cider Mill.
