Image Credit: This portrait of the artist and activist Molly Crabapple in her studio in Brooklyn was shot this April on medium format 120 film and printed in the sunlight from enlarged negatives as cyanotypes, at 24x24", onto cotton fabric.

To create these striking photographs, Benjamin employs the same basic chemistry formula that was invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel, which was used primarily to create architectural blueprints. An emulsion of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide, when mixed together, becomes sensitive to ultraviolet light. After exposure in sunlight, the prints are washed in water, leaving only the ferric ferrocyanide (Prussian Blue pigment) behind.

For three Friday nights this summer, the service alleyway at The Phoenix (5 Stowe Street), in downtown Waterbury, will be transformed into a special performance venue. Under string lights and the mural of the Phoenix Rising this is an opportunity for friends and neighbors to experience great music and a deep sense of community. Blackback Pub partners on Music in the Alley and will serve food and beverage in the Alley. The rain plan will be to play music inside the Blackback Pub. Music in the Alley is one of the unique experiences that makes Waterbury so great!

Michael Chorney and Freeway Clyde play psychedelic jazz soundtracks to non-existent films.
Seven Days says "every moment is urgent and new". Michael Chorney is a musician from Lincoln Vermont. He has worked as a composer, bandleader, librarian, orchestrator, assembly line worker, Tony award winner, arranger, janitor, dance accompanist, carpenter, engineer, house painter, teacher and sideman. His work spans genre, from avant-garde prepared guitar pieces to arrangements of Paul Bowles, Kurt Weill and Sun Ra. His newest project, a seven-piece psychedelic jazz-rock collective called Freeway Clyde will release their first album in early 2023.
