Join Janina of Red Poppy Cakery and Vermont Jazz musician, Patrick J. Markley for a night of Tiramisu and live music! We will spend the first hour or so in our kitchens whipping up a classic Tiramisu with homemade layers of ladyfingers soaked in coffee/espresso and brandy surrounded by a light and airy mascarpone cream topped with sharp cocoa powder. We will spend the second hour of the class enjoying our hard earned efforts and listening to a live Jazz performance! For this section, it is encouraged to connect your device to your favorite speaker(s), bluetooth or otherwise, and let the sound fill up your space. Talk amongst yourself about life and love while the jazzy sounds create a cozy atmosphere.
One week prior to the class (or within 24 hours of registration), everyone who has registered will be emailed the ingredient list, supply list, and zoom info. If for some reason this does not come through, email [email protected]
VT born, Patrick J. Markley is a musician very much influenced by his surroundings during his upbringing in the green mountains, which can be heard through his compositions. He has received many years of private tutelage from some of VT’s finest musicians, and has also pursued music in Academia, earning a degree in Music Performance and Jazz Studies from the University of Vermont’s Music Department. Since college, Pat has worked with a great variety of musicians and groups, gaining experience and refinement as a bassist and multi-instrumentalist. Pat’s primary instrument is the electric fretless bass, with heavy influence from Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, and Christian McBride to name just a few. Brought up in the school and ideology of jazz, Pat has explored all genres of music while retaining the spirit of improvisation and conversation. Pat can be spotted at a late night jazz jam during Burlington’s Discover Jazz Fest, or playing bossa-nova at Leunig's for the dinner crowd. Come say hi!
