Solaris welcomes the return of brighter days with Blue Skies, a pair of spring concerts that celebrate light, warmth, and renewal through choral music.
At the heart of the program are two world-premiere arrangements by Composer-in-Residence James Stewart, reimagining beloved songs both written in 1926: Irving Berlin’s radiant Blue Skies and George Gershwin’s tender Someone to Watch Over Me. These fresh premieres sit alongside choral gems that shimmer with seasonal beauty, including Edvard Grieg’s Three Songs of Summer and C.V. Stanford’s ethereal, floating The Blue Bird.
The program also takes a playful and unexpected turn as two Renaissance madrigals—Weep, O Mine Eyes and Fire, Fire—are paired with jazzy re-interpretations featuring guest artist Nick Browne on string bass and Andy Gagnon on drum set, bridging centuries with sparkle and swing.
Rounding out the evening is a stunning arrangement of the jazz classic Moonlight in Vermont, a perfect nod to home and a gentle close to a concert full of color, warmth, and joy.

What is Kizomba?
Kizomba means “party,” and it’s one of the fastest-growing partner dances in the world today. Originating in Angola, Africa, Kizomba has taken the world by storm with its smooth flow, deep connection, and strong rhythm. It emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s as an evolution of semba, a traditional Angolan music and dance genre that also influenced Brazilian samba.

What can I expect?
Our prepared and dedicated instructors leading this one-hour class, will focus on building your confidence and technique. To enhance your learning, we regularly switch partners so you can practice the steps and movements with everyone in the lesson.

Our mission is to create an inclusive and safe community for the authentic expression of African and Latin dances and their cultures. Return to Center exists because I need it myself. We live in a culture that rewards speed, productivity, and constant motion, quietly inviting us into what often feels like a never-ending busyness Olympics. Month after month, I find myself longing for a full day to slow down, reflect, breathe, and be in the company of others who are also seeking perspective, health, and well-being. These retreats are my attempt to create the kind of day I wish were more normalized in our culture, a day to tend to the body, steady the nervous system, listen inwardly, and remember who we are beneath the noise.

Life Drawing Classes presented by The Valley Artists Guild

The very popular Wednesday Night Drawing Sessions will run through June 24, 2026. This is a self-directed session. No instruction or critiques are offered but conversations and sharing within the group are sure to inspire.

Subjects vary every two weeks: two weeks of Live Models, two weeks of Still Life or equivalent. All media are welcome except
photography.

WHEN
Every Wednesday Evening from 6:15 - 8:15 pm. Classes begin on Feb 4th.

WHERE
The UCC Waitsfield Village Meeting House. Located in Historic Waitsfield Village across from the VG. Parking is in back.

COST
The cost is $15/visit. Cash only Please.

What will this class actually look like?
Let’s get quiet together!

I view this less as a class and more as quiet time together. I’m here for questions and guidance, and to help you access the real magic of stillness.

You’ll get comfy and oriented. Grab a mat, bolster, pillow, blanket, writing pad, tea- whatever you desire that will help you feel safe, comfortable, and focused. Make yourself at home. Mats, pillows, and blankets are in the hallway and the Flow Room.

Settle in, and at the 15-minute mark, we’ll be quiet together for 30 minutes. When the 30 minutes ends, feel free to stay quiet or share questions, thoughts, or insights. You’ll go on with your day with new vigor. Or, you can stay if you wish. Check out the space options on the Shared Office Space page and keep your slow vibe going!
